Plants and pets

Compiled August 25, 2026. That is the day this roll was last put together, not the day any one plant was looked up.

Every plant here was checked against the ASPCA, Cornell, Pet Poison Helpline and UC Davis poison-control references. Those four are named once, here, and nowhere else on the page: below, a plant we say is safe carries no source beside it, because that claim is ours to stand behind, and a plant recorded toxic carries the name of whoever recorded it.

We say a plant is safe only where a named poison-control reference names that exact species and records it as non-toxic to both cats and dogs. Most plants are on nobody’s list, and their absence here is not a judgement about them. This is a record of what those references say, not veterinary advice, and it cannot account for your own animal, the quantity eaten, or a plant treated with anything.

Recorded toxic

This is only the plants a reference we read happened to name. It is not a list of every plant that could hurt an animal, and a plant missing from it has not been cleared.
